I grew up in the church; my family attended the neighborhood ELCA church  in Chicago, IL, where I was born, baptized and raised. I attended a Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod grade school, which is where I first learned not only that all Christians don’t get along, but all Lutherans don’t get along. Following that, I attended a Roman Catholic High School; I chose my high school because of the exceptional, nationally recognized band program (I play the tuba, believe it or not). During this time I began to recognize a call to ministry in one form or another, but didn’t yet know what to do with it.

When I started my college career at Capital University in Columbus, OH (an ELCA university), I wanted to major in Music Education. After struggling for a year and a half, I admitted that I wasn’t cut out for that line of work, and began to rediscover my call to ministry. There, I also met the beautiful woman to whom I am now married, Debbie! I graduated with my BAs, and began to prepare for seminary.

I was assigned to an inner city urban church for my two years of Ministry in Context. In the summer of 2011, I took one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (chaplaincy and education work) at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. I served as the intern pastor at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskegon, MI, during the 2011-2012 year as part of my seminary education and preparation for ministry.

In January of 2014, I accepted a call as Pastor to Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes, WI, a congregation of the Northern Great Lakes Synod of the ELCA.
