A New Call

Those of you who have been following my journey through seminary know that I had delayed my entry into the ELCA call process until a few months ago, and that since then, I have been in conversation with the Bishop of the Northern Great Lakes synod. We’ve made a few visits to the area and have interviewed.

I am pleased to announce that Debbie and I have accepted a call to Faith Lutheran Church in Three Lakes, Wisconsin! The letter of call arrived in the mail this week and I sent back my letter of acceptance. In two weeks, I’m moving up to Three Lakes (Debbie is staying in Columbus to finish out her job and to be close by for wedding details). Though I am tired of moving, having moved six times in the last five years, I look forward to moving into a place where I know I’ll be staying put for a good while. That the parsonage happens to have a sauna in the basement is just a perk…

My first call will be an exciting experience, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous! This is the beginning of a new adventure, one that will bring entirely new joys and challenges. I trust the Spirit to get me and the congregation through both as we work together, living out God’s mission.
